But what if you’re looking for something specific? An indoor pool in a 250 year old Japanese inn perhaps? Ok maybe that’s very specific, but if morning swims are high on your agenda, you’ll be surprised to know that pools in the Big Apple’s best hotels aren’t that common. It pays to do some research to make sure you get your daily workout. That’s where we come in.

We dived into our collection and shortlisted the New York hotels with indoor pools where you can relax in warm waters to work off the stress of the day. So without further ado…

The Park Hyatt New York

Park Hyatt- New York Indoor Pool

The Park Hyatt New York is designed by Pritzker Prize winner Christian de Portzamparc and Yabu Pushelberg studios. In other words, it looks great, and it fits right into the prestigious One57 building which it calls home. But it’s not all for show, with standard rooms coming in at an average of 475 sq ft these are some of the most spacious in New York and since they’re located in the upper floors of the city’s tallest and priciest residential building, there’s some really nice views to take in from up here.

Whether it’s the modern design or central Manhattan location that’ll win you over, you’ll love the cherry on this elegant and tasteful cake… or perhaps it’s the blueberry?

Located on the 25th floor of the building is the Park Hyatt’s indoor pool. Encased in floor to ceiling windows, surrounded by towering skyscrapers and flooded in sunlight, the pool feels like a surreal space. Especially in the mornings, with music from Carnegie Hall (which is opposite the hotel) playing through the underwater speakers.

The Peninusla New York

The sexy and the trendy Peninsula New York is an unmissable address for those who want to see and be seen in the Big Apple. It’s also a great hotel to take a load off and relax, due in no small part to its indoor pool and the spa’s Vedic treatments which work miracles. The pool area’s floor to ceiling windows let you see plenty of New York’s skyline while you’re taking a dip or nibbling on the Naturally Peninsula menu served right on the pool’s day beds.

The Mandarin Oriental New York

The Mandarin Oriental hotels have a design and atmosphere that we can’t get enough of and their property in New York is seeped in the “je ne sais quoi” we love. You’ll find the hotel on the upper floors of the Time Warner Center by Colombus Circle, which means location, location, location and jaw dropping city views.

Inside the hotel, a blend of Art deco and Asian elements make up the Mandarin Oriental’s signature East meets West design, and outside the floor to ceiling windows of the SkyLounge are some of the best views of Central Park in the city.

After a day running about one of the busiest cities in the world, the hotel’s pool is the 75-foot lap miracle that you need. You’ll find it on the upper levels of the hotel, bathed in natural light and with impeccable views of the Hudson to look at when you’ve done your laps. Follow up your swim with a spa session and you’ll leave the hotel feeling like a new person.

The Greenwich Hotel

Greenwich Hotel - Indoor Pool

There’s a lot of things to love about Robert DeNiro’s Greenwich Hotel. For one, you’re in Tribeca, one of New York’s most livable quarters and bastions of fine taste. Then, there’s the homely atmosphere of the hotel, intimately connected with the neighbourhood and with a level of discretion made with Hollywood stars in mind. Finally the piece de resistance, the Shibui Spa, a 250 year old bamboo farmhouse imported from Japan (yes, you read that right) which now houses the hotel’s spa and pool. You’ll forget that Manhattan even exists while you’re swimming in these waters.

Baccarat Hotel

Baccarat New York - Indoor Pool

The Baccarat Hotel is a brand new to our collection, and it’s one of those rare properties where its wow factor lies in itself. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because the owners of the hotel are the 250 year old French crystalware company Baccarat, a fact which you are reminded of at every turn in this hotel.

Never has the word “gem” been more appropriate to describe a luxury hotel. Designers Patrick Gilles and Dorothée Boissier have strewn the property with 15,000 pieces of handmade glassware, prismatic crystals hang from the ceiling of the Grand Salon and threads of hand pleated silk adorn the walls. It’s nothing short of a masterpiece. To add to all this beauty, is one of New York’s largest heated indoor pools down in the hotel’s lower levels. Surrounded by private cabanas and daybeds infused with the light scent of Rouge 504, this pool, and its setting, promises to stay on your mind long after your check out.
